About Depression & Mental Health

Depression affects 1 in 10 Canadians during their lifetime. A depressed mood involves feelings of sadness, emptiness, hopelessness or just not feeling much at all. When this kind of mood sticks around long enough, we begin to worry about medical conditions which might be driving it.

What we can do
  • Assess the severity of your symptoms
  • Rule out medical or substance induced disorders which may account for your symptoms
  • Work with you on a care plan including developing self-management goals, connecting you with online and community resources, prescribing medications and referring you to specialty care as appropriate
We may ask you to
  • Participate in a video chat to help assess your mental health status
  • Order bloodwork at a lab near you to rule out medical conditions
  • Seek emergency care if you are in crisis
  • Get a physical examination during your workup
What we cannot do
